Blood, sweat and tears

I am currently making a short film on the psychological effects of child abuse. It should be doing the festival rounds in autumn 2000.

What I am interested in, are people who have ideas and want to make films that are different from the same shit that can run down the silver screen most of the time. Seen AMERICAN BEAUTY, FIGHT CLUB, BEING JOHN MALKOVICH? Wouldn't it be great if going to the cinema was always so pleasureable?

I have tons of ideas, really! Right now I am trying to get together a crew to make a horror film in the UK, I am writing the second draft of a quite excellent script, but I would love to get in touch with other writers, producers, camerapeople, editors, designers, sound designers, composers, actors, people who want to make films so much that it kills them thinking about it. I've made numerous shorts and they have been shown to certain acclaim, that is no awards yet but my back's been patted enough time to give me a bronchial infection.

I intend to get the ball rolling on this first feature over summer 2000. Let's do this.

hey man! I am an aspiring film maker in the u.k too. I am currently in pre-production of my first movie. And I am all for movies that are 'different'.. my first movie is way off the scale, it involves God, 3 angels, the devil, the angel of death... lots of guns 'n' violence and snappy/offensive dialogue........ I'm up for making/scripting a kick-ass horror film, what's the general idea? post a reply 'cause I'm interested

Hmm, nice little site this.
In my collegue Director666's defence, it is a good script, nice twists in it you see. The only reason it sounds like yet another God/Devil power struggle thing is beacause all the big studios seemed to knock out all kinds of that stuff over the last couple of years in an attempt to cash in on armageddon, can't blame them really though can you, so it'll be good to see the whole thing tackled from another angle, form someone without $150 million.

I am also making my first film, a comedy, personally i feel it's lacking substance in some areas, but am hoping some shots that you can't really visualise till it's made will pull it all together. Point is, i think no matter what story you do for your first film, don't matter that much, it's all expeience, and you learn.

Final note, it is good to see fresh gubbins alonng the lines of Fight Club, American Beauty and Being John Malkovich, and if you think about it, it's just the start of guys that want to get out there, do something different and give people something fresh to watch, just imagine whats to come...

Ummm...Director666, God, 3 angels, the devil, the angel of death... lots of guns 'n' violence and snappy/offensive dialogue is "different"? Sounds like a mixture of Reservoir Dogs and every one of those oh-so-abundant-devils-and-spirits-cause-chaos-amongst-special-effects-flicks.

Not saying that's bad.

But it sure doesn't sound different.

Sounds interesting, I'm yet another aspiring UK film maker. Got 7 short films behind me (all video as its cheeper and allows them to be shown on Student TV at Glasgow Uni) mostly horror/comedy zombie slasher movies and psycological horrors.
